Finding Justice on PBS
Quick newsflash: we have a talented editor currently available.
During a week with plenty in the news about the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, I was thrilled to learn that a documentary we edited is being featured at the prestigious National Women’s History Museum virtual celebration of the centennial on August 26th at 11 AM PT/2 PM ET. The film will be followed by a discussion with the filmmaker, Amanda Owen, and Rosa Rios, the 43rd Treasurer of the United States. It’s free, but you have to register.
Edited by my nephew (and latest hire), this historical short unfolds with a unique structure. Director and historian Amanda Owen bookends the film with her present-day detective story to find the Justice Bell.
In between, the archive-rich historical tale reveals how a 2000-pound bell, similar to the Liberty Bell, galvanized American voters to support the 19th Amendment.
Many thanks to Amanda for this beautiful testimonial:
“Karen brought her decades-long experience to story structure in a way that was always respectful of me, a first-time filmmaker. She guided without imposing her own preferences and made suggestions without pushing. But most importantly, her toolkit of expertise and skill transformed FINDING JUSTICE from an OK film to one that is now being scheduled on PBS stations and for events at prominent national institutions. I highly recommend Karen’s services, as well as those of Chris, the editor she assigned to my film, who did a wonderful job.”
