Empowering Filmmakers at Esalen
I’ll be speaking again at this year’s Esalen Inspirational Film Festival, and I’d like to invite you! Slated for April 10-15, this week long group immersion is unlike any other film festival I’ve been to.
Eating and sometimes soaking alongside fellow attendees, we’ll watch films that empower and enrich the human spirit. This year features filmmaker Lucy Walker (Waste Land, Crash Reel) and others who explore positive psychology in film and the power of entertainment to create social change.
(As a side note, I finally watched the last episode of AMC’s Mad Men in which Don Draper has a transformational experience at an Esalen-type environment. Loved it!)
Last year I spoke on transformational documentaries and then had the opportunity to work with acclaimed filmmaker Josh Tickell, Director of Fuel and The Big Fix. Josh kindly wrote this testimonial:
“After a number of test screenings and a lot of notes from industry experts, we felt like we were really missing something with our movie—something that nobody could put their finger on. Karen took such great care in analyzing our film. Her feedback was nothing short of a breakthrough. In a short conversation, she articulated very clear directions for changes that took little time and made the movie immeasurably better.”
If Josh’s testimonial inspires you, let’s talk about how my team of story consultants and editors can help create a breakthrough in expressing your vision.
