Two Film Funding Opportunities
Happy holidays! I’m grateful for all you courageous filmmakers who are engaging viewers with important ideas. Thank you all for taking on your film projects and seeing them through.
To this end, some help!
First up, here’s a grant I once won for my own film. Contrary to popular opinion, the Frameline Completion Fund isn’t just for queer filmmakers.
Frameline gives up to $25,000 to emerging and established filmmakers to push LGBTQ+ film projects over the finish line. Apply here. The deadline is soon: Monday, November 20th.
Next up, ITVS is America’s largest funder of documentary films. Their Open Call is now available here. Deadline is December 18, 2020.
If you’d like to get a better sense of what kind of documentarries receive ITVS support, or how to pitch your own, check out all 556 Open Call projects. Especially examine the loglines, which almost always reveal the “quest”, or effort, of the protagonists. For example, from Love in the Time of Fentanyl:
“Misfits, artists, and drug users run a renegade safe injection site in Vancouver, Canada, saving lives in a community ravaged by the overdose crisis.”
We now offer a Grant Writing Service. Email me today for an estimate. (Note that proposals can take 2-3 weeks to develop, and we can accommodate six more filmmakers before the ITVS deadline.)
