Best Kickstarter Tips
This week I’m featuring Kickstarter tips, as well as a record-breaking campaign from my Inner Circle story consulting client Ben Henterig. Since my last newsletter, I’ve received many tips from filmmakers about how to create an effective crowdsourcing campaign, which I’ll also include in the next newsletter. Thank you, everyone!

Ben Henterig’s Kickstarter campaign for “The Happiest Place: A Journey Across Bhutan” has broken several records. In fact, they reached their ambitious $55K goal within 24 hours! Now their stretch goal is $110,000 and they are very close!
“Perks are SUPER important and a lot of people don’t get them right,” says Henterig. “I think they can make or break your campaign. We didn’t do a ton of outreach on Facebook — but had a TON of shares that really helped.”

Here are a few other fundraising musts from my film’s fiscal sponsor, Carole Dean at From the Heart Productions:
Include on your film’s website a donate button, a blog, and an opt-in box to collect emails (be sure to offer a gift in exchange for their email)
Carole’s website features several more useful tips, such as how to write a logline, or one sentence summary:

And you can learn to write a “sticky story” to market your film here:

In my next newsletter, I will be featuring tips from several of the Kickstarter sites that filmmakers have sent in.
