Why I’m So Happy
I am feeling especially grateful because my efforts to help filmmakers through my new program, “The Ultimate Guide to Structuring Your Documentary“, are bearing fruit.
We recently had 15-20 people on our first group coaching call. The terrific questions that filmmakers asked, and my opportunity to answer from my 20 years of experience and collected wisdom, made me so happy that after the call I was glowing.
And this morning, as I write this, I feel my cup running over with gratitude. I am learning in my forties what it feels like to be a mentor. The thrill of serving people, not with my own films (right now), but by helping others with theirs, is rich.
In the last few years, I’ve started visualizing what I want in great detail. Whether you believe in the so-called “Law of Attraction” or not, it’s common sense that what you focus on makes it more likely that you’ll hit your target, right?
Since January 1, 2010, I’ve been visualizing every morning that filmmakers are emailing me saying how “The Ultimate Guide To Structuring Your Documentary” is helping them enormously with their films.
This week, I experienced that visualization become a reality as several filmmakers, who registered for the program and had watched the first few video tutorials, had emailed me their enthusiasm and gratitude.
Emails like this help me know I’m on track with my life’s purpose and make me so happy that I can serve. Here’s an excerpt from one such email, sent by filmmaker Jen Evans:
“I just finished watching module #1. You are such a gifted teacher. I am so very glad you were put on the planet to help people like me figure out how to tell some stories. The idea of the online class was pure genius-and it’s backed up with such depth and breadth of experience.”
